Essential Duties:

  • Working alongside Communications leadership, implements annual community relations plan to improve awareness and connection between Methodist Healthcare Ministries and appropriate community organizations and audiences.
  • Responsible for assisting in the execution of organizational sponsorships across 74 counties. Duties include co-managing annual budget, reviewing sponsorship requests, conducting research, and making funding recommendations, sharing sponsorship deliverables with appropriate internal stakeholders for execution according to timeline, and preparing/publishing monthly and annual sponsorship reports.
  • Promotes the organization’s journey to learn and lead in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB); and Volunteer Time Off (VTO) initiatives. Editorial responsibilities include drafting website/social media content for inclusion on the organization’s content calendar and submitting articles for inclusion in targeted professional journals.
  • Represents the organization’s position through membership in a variety of local and statewide associations and at events including but not limited to Chambers of Commerce, Councils of Government, Rotaries, etc., using such opportunities to increase community knowledge of Methodist Healthcare Ministries.
  • Working alongside Communications department leadership: plan, draft, produce and publish organizational Annual/Impact Reports and ensure appropriate distribution to internal/external stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Communications leadership to identify, develop, and cross-promote appropriate community partnerships with organizations who align with Methodist Healthcare Ministries’ CSR, DEIB, and VTO initiatives.
  • Responsible for the coordination of special community relations presentations and projects, including developing Power Point templates and other supporting collateral for the organization.
  • Responsible for facilitating subject matter expertise that guides organizational community relations events, including on-site management of community relations activities at events.
  • Assists with photo and video production which involves interacting with clients, transporting, and operating portable video and audio equipment, and cooperating with other staff to coordinate the pre-production and production planning activities.
  • Excels in managing personal and collaborative production workflow, timelines, and objectives as well as handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Helps to enforce organization communications standards, a consistent image, as well as graphic standards and communicates these to team members and monitors their application.
  • Works with other departments to research, obtain material, produce and organize the content of communications as well as supporting special projects and initiatives for organization learning and resource development.
  • Supports the development of editorial calendars, templates, and campaigns.
  • Works with vendors to support and implement communications standards, messaging,, and branding.
  • Participates on teams and external committees to communicate information, resolve problems and achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary:

Annual salary rate begins at $62,339.00. Mid range at $77,923.00. Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Business or related field and four years of public relations, marketing, or community relations experience required, or a High School Diploma and six years of public relations, marketing, or community relations experience required.

Language Ability:

Excellent written communication skills. Job requires proficient knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Familiarity with Associated Press Stylebook preferred.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret business and financial reports. Ability to respond to inquiries, comments or complaints generated from social media sites. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Fluent in English. Spanish preferred.


Computer Skills:

Demonstrate proficient knowledge of the internet, Outlook, and Excel; and desktop publishing software such as Word, Power Point and Adobe InDesign. Expert knowledge of social media required. Experience using a Content Management System such as Wordpress is preferred. A working knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems is preferred.

Other:

Ability to drive and have access to a car; maintain valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Ability to travel within MHM’s service area (South Texas).

Advanced understanding of how multimedia content integrates with and supports other communications channels (social media, web, special events, print, etc.) is desired.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to a medical office environment having direct contact with patients and clients. Position necessitates bending, stooping, twisting, turning, walking, climbing step stools, sitting, and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and maneuver 25 pounds.
