Position Summary
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will provide strategic leadership and oversee the surgical departments, including the Operating Room, Outpatient Surgery, Recovery/PACU, and Central Sterile Processing. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, your responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing departmental budgets.
- Ensuring optimal staffing levels, equipment readiness, and supply availability.
- Promoting seamless integration of surgical services with other hospital departments.
- Driving professional growth through staff education and training.
- Leading performance improvement initiatives.
- Conducting annual employee evaluations and ensuring compliance with competencies.
- Encouraging professional development and maintaining licensure.
Candidate Qualifications
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (e.g., MSN, MHA).
Licenses:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (required within 30 days of hire).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (required within 90 days of hire).
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a surgical service line within an acute care hospital setting.
