Job Overview
The Rental Manager will oversee all aspects of Metro Bobcat, Inc.'s rental operations, ensuring that rental processes are efficient, profitable, and customer-focused. This role involves managing the rental fleet, coordinating with customers to meet their equipment needs, and supervising the rental staff. Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the rental department, including equipment rental, scheduling, delivery, and maintenance.
- Ensure that all rental processes are carried out efficiently and in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage the fleet to ensure availability and readiness of equipment for customer needs.
- Provide excellent customer service by helping customers select the right equipment for their needs and answering inquiries about rental terms, pricing, and availability.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key clients and vendors to ensure repeat business.
- Address and resolve any customer issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Supervise and lead the rental team including a driver and yard laborer.
- Provide training and mentorship to rental department staff to ensure high levels of customer service and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set team goals, and create opportunities for staff development.
- Coordinate with the Service Department to ensure timely service and repair of rental equipment.
- Track the condition of all rental units and implement a maintenance schedule to extend the lifespan of the fleet.
- Manage equipment return processes, including inspections, cleaning, and maintenance checks.
- Develop and implement competitive rental pricing strategies.
- Prepare and review rental contracts, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies.
- Monitor rental agreements and equipment utilization to optimize fleet usage and minimize downtime.
- Analyze rental trends and recommend strategies to improve rental business performance.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in equipment rental, construction, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment, rental operations, and maintenance practices is preferred.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in rental management software and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively, while maintaining a customer-first attitude.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an environment that may include exposure to outdoor elements.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (7.5 hours of overtime every week)
