SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Strengthening Families Program (SFP) Facilitator will work directly under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, supporting all SFP-related activities. The primary responsibilities of the SFP Group Facilitator include Coaching families in positive communication and parenting techniques during group sessions, Guiding families through home practice assignments, Performing clerical tasks and assisting with program operations, Providing childcare support during program activities, Supporting community outreach efforts to promote program awareness and engagement, Ensuring quality assurance in all services provided, and reporting feedback and concerns to the Program Coordinator.
The SFP Facilitator plays a critical role in fostering positive family dynamics and supporting the program's mission.
DUTIES:
1. Assist with community outreach, recruit families, set up booths, and distribute informational materials about the program.
2. Demonstrate role modeling and appropriate assertiveness skills to reinforce program structure.
3. Create a supportive and engaging environment where families feel comfortable sharing experiences and practicing new skills.
4. Actively listen to family concerns, provide individual guidance, and coach families in applying skills to real-life situations.
5. Establish positive relationships with families to foster trust and encourage active participation in the program.
6. Clearly explain concepts, facilitate discussions, and actively listen to diverse perspectives.
7. Understand different cultural backgrounds and adapt approaches to meet the diverse needs of families.
8. Track family progress through assessments and observations, identify areas for improvement, and adapt interventions accordingly.
9. Basic understanding of child development stages and common challenges faced by families
10. Assist with childcare or children’s group activities during sessions.
11. Serve food during program activities.
12. Maintain reliable attendance to ensure smooth program operations and fulfillment of all job responsibilities.
13. Assist parents with completing paperwork and registering families for the program.
14. Greet families, make appropriate introductions, and direct them efficiently to their designated locations.
15. Perform clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and organizing documents.
16. Answer phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries professionally.
17. Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and build rapport with diverse families.
· Ability to model positive behavior, assertiveness, and effective parenting techniques.
· Cultural competency and flexibility to adapt approaches to meet varying family needs.
· Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, track family progress, and complete clerical work.
· Experience in facilitation, coaching, or working with families is preferred.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interaction
· High school diploma or GED
· Bi-lingual preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Concepts, terminology, and principles of patient advocacy related to alcoholism, mental illness and emotional disorders
- Community resources available for addressing alcoholism, mental illness and emotional disorders services
- Current technology and trends in the profession

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be insurable at standard automobile rates and maintain insurability throughout employment.
- Certification in Infant/Pediatric CPR and First Aid.
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint clearance.
- Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance.
- Negative tuberculosis (TB) test result.
- Successful completion of a (UA) urine analysis drug screening test.
LICENSES:
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Identification Card during the course of employment
