Job Overview
MGC is looking for a dedicated License Office Assistant Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity in a growing, fast-paced company, located in St. Louis Central West End. The License Office Assistant Manager is a pivotal role that directly supports the Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the license office. This position is instrumental in leading and motivating a skilled team of customer service clerks to ensure optimal efficiency, strict compliance, and exceptional customer service across critical functions, including identification, vehicle registration, licensing, notary services, fingerprinting, and other related areas. Additionally, this role helps coordinate the safety and security of the team, assets, and information. The Assistant Manager also assumes the responsibilities of the License Office Manager in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Effectively supervise and mentor the license office team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and ongoing training to ensure operational excellence. Collaborate with senior management on interviewing and training of new License Office Operations team members. Assist in the development of performance evaluations, if applicable. Discuss employee performance matters and prepare documentation, as necessary
- Operational Management: Assist with the daily functioning of the license office, including scheduling, workflow coordination, such as relieving employees for breaks, monitoring work flow, monitoring employee schedules, etc., and adherence to state and company policies and procedures
- Customer Service: Resolve customer inquiries and complaints promptly, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining professionalism.
- Compliance: Monitor operations to ensure strict compliance with state laws and DOR regulations. Conduct inventory audits as needed
- Reporting: Assist the Manager in preparing and analyzing reports on office performance, financial transactions, and customer metrics.
- Budgeting: Assist in managing the office budget, tracking expenses, and controlling inventory of supplies and materials
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in procedures and recommend solutions to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Additional Responsibilities: Foster organizational collaboration while achieving the established business goals.
- Perform other duties as required by the office manager and the administration office
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a minimum of three to five years of customer service experience
- Proven experience in management and interpersonal skills, preferably in a government, administrative, or customer service role
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of DOR and License Office operations, laws, and procedures
- Must work well with confidential information
- Proficiency in office software and systems, including queue management platforms used for efficiency, analytics, record-keeping, and reporting
Additional Qualifications
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age
- Employees may be required to work non-traditional work hours, such as extended office hours; evenings and/or weekends to accommodate customers
- This position requires successful completion of a background check and fingerprint screening prior to the job assignment. Pre-employment drug testing may also be required
- Candidates must provide the past 2 years of paid personal property receipts

This position is based in a busy license office, requiring a calm and efficient approach to managing staff and customer interactions in high-pressure situations
