MGC is looking for a hardworking individual with a strong desire to learn to join our team. The Staking Technician will work closely with the Construction Manager to complete construction engineering projects. Applicants that are hired by MGC will be trained from the ground up on industry standards.
Job Summary
We are seeking an Entry-Level Staker to assist with field surveys and data collection for fiber optic projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in fiber optic construction, utility surveying, or OSP engineering.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting field surveys to determine fiber optic cable routes.
- Record measurements, GPS coordinates, and basic site details.
- Identify and document existing utility poles, underground utilities, and other obstacles.
- Mark proposed fiber routes in the field using stakes or paint.
- Take photos and notes to support engineering and permitting teams.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel to different project sites.
- Communicate with team members to ensure accurate data collection.
