The Job

You’ll manage a team responsible for deep cleaning kitchen areas, maintaining equipment, and supporting the culinary team’s success. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in kitchen operations.
The Day-to-day
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of stewards, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and adherence to standards
- Operational Oversight: Oversee all aspects of stewarding operations, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, waste management, and inventory control, to maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the facility
- Quality Assurance: Maintain strict adherence to sanitation and hygiene protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation, including staffing levels, equipment, and supplies, to meet operational requirements efficiently while controlling costs
- Collaboration: Work closely with culinary and food and beverage teams to coordinate stewarding activities with kitchen operations and event schedules, ensuring seamless service delivery
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, cost savings, and efficiency improvements within the stewarding department, implementing best practices and innovative solutions as appropriate
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and ensuring timely delivery of supplies and equipment
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment maintenance, incident reports, and other relevant documentation, providing regular reports to senior management as required
- Minimum of two years experience in Stewarding, Dishwashing, Food & Beverage Operations, or related fields such as custodial or janitorial services
- Understanding of Catering & Banquet operations, including Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen steward functions, materials, and equipment used in kitchen operations
- Bilingual in English and Spanish language is a plus
- Previous experience in a similar resort environment
- Experience managing employees in a unionized setting under a Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
