Essential Functions And Tasks
- Collaborate and co-teach with lead teachers to plan and teach units that encompass hands-on exploration and inquiry-based learning using the Understanding by Design model of instruction.
- Further develop and maintain the Miami Country Day School Writing Lab.
- Periodically observe or substitute for class teachers in order to build professional expertise.
- Work with a lead teacher as a co-advisor to a group of ten to twelve 9th-12th graders.
- Perform supervisory duties as assigned.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Utilize and implement relevant technology.
- Engage in continual professional growth.
- Contribute to a dynamic community by learning and teaching.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Must be able to use computer for communication and instruction.
- Attend meetings, in-service or trainings required of this position that may/may not be during regular hours.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, and reach with hands and arms.
- Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- May work long hours for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up 20 pounds
- Work in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat.
