Purchasing Agent
This position is responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies and service categories as assigned. Works to develop a supply chain that meets safety, quality, delivery and cost requirements and goals. Helps the Procurement function and vendors pursue Continuous Improvement. Strives to meet or exceed customer service, inventory, quality and financial targets set by management. Experience in low volume capital goods and in processes such as welding, machining, forgings/castings and assembly is helpful. Strong understanding of supply chain concepts, financial acumen, and product knowledge
· Execute strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories, including: RFQ’s, supplier selection, negotiations, and developing and implementing cost savings projects.
· Manage the process for specific RFI's and RFP's
· Actively support the management of supplier relationships and performance management.
· Demonstrates decision making skills to make optimal purchasing decisions based on Supplier and Customer contracts, situational information, and all other available data for Supplier portfolio
· Maintain a high level of professionalism including discretion when handling proprietary information
· Develop and maintain excellent working supplier relations. Pre-qualify suppliers of goods/services for the business requirements.
· Define and mandate supplier reporting requirements
· Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies to reduce total cost and to ensure continuity of supply
· Manage activities with Supplier portfolio to meet key metrics
· Implement and utilize supplier score card tool and manage metrics
· Evaluate current supplier base and develop plan to optimize for future needs.
· Run, modify, or create reports to highlight areas of improvement that will positively impact goals Manage procurement / buying activity and develop process / systems to improve efficiency
· Ensure strong supplier performance towards objectives (delivery, quality, cost, lead time, and capacity)
· Lead the procurement activities in the engineering change order process
· Act as liaison, when needed, between Accounting and Suppliers
· Minimum of seven to ten (5-10) years of Manufacturing experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
· High level of analytical ability and demonstrated maturity to make decisions and recommendations where problems are complex.
· Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
· Understanding of Microsoft Excel
