What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Bookkeeper position at Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies?
OBJECTIVE:
Member Service Bookkeeper
Process routine member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing. Perform shared branching transactions. Maintain a balanced teller cash drawer
Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner
Accurately assist members with their everyday needs such as stop payments, wire transfers, perform file maintenance on accounts, and ordering debit/credit cards.
Establish relationships with members and seek opportunities to offer products and services
Assist the external bookkeeping service in performing financial record keeping and research and resolve discrepancies as needed
Analyze and confirm reconciliation of all general ledger accounts daily
Confirm that overdrafts, returned NSF items, and ACH adjustments are processed daily
Review daily cash balances, order and return cash as needed, and balance the vault
Prepare accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting
Reconcile account statements monthly, make timely payment of all accounts payable
Record and balance investment accounts, establish and process prepaid and fixed asset items
Assist members with their fraud disputes, facilitate the completion of paperwork, and ensure timelines are met to complete the dispute
Maintain historical records and manage document retention

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Must be bondable and have a credit report that demonstrates fiscal responsibility as defined by FBFCU policy.
Preferred
Prior teller, member/customer service, and bookkeeping experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
