We’re looking for a skilled and dynamic lawyer to join our legal team to provide legal support for, and serve as a trusted advisor to , the Device Management engineering team and the Central Fraud and Abuse Risk team , supporting cutting-edge security services like Microsoft 365 Defender in the role of Senior Corporate Counsel.
This attorney will be responsible for providing legal guidance, directly and in collaboration with other attorneys and legal professionals, to these business units on a range of legal, policy, business and strategic issues. This is a terrific opportunity to delve into important technical and policy area s , ranging from traditional product support work enterprise offerings , to serving as a trusted advisor for an organization that seeks to apply greater rigor on how Microsoft addresses fraud in all of its manifestations . In this role, you can grow your skills across a wide range of different areas, both in substantive legal/policy areas such as regulatory compliance, intellectual property and licensing, data protection/data privacy, deal work , and competition law , as well as in other traditional in-house counsel capacities, such as learning to drive and influence internal alignment amongst different Microsoft stakeholders around the foregoing topics , including our Business Development, Privacy, and Compliance professionals .

Responsibilities
- Providing legal counsel to the Device Management team and the Central Fraud and Abuse Risk teams.
- Collaborating with team members within and across organizational boundaries, including on regulatory compliance, privacy, security, competition law, and fraud/safety .
- Developing trusted advisor relationships with business clients and executives.
- Monitor ing business activity to understand clients’ strategy and assist them in developing creative solutions to mitigate potential risk arising from legal issues.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 6 years experience as a practicing attorney
- OR equivalent experience.
- Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
- 3 years in-house counsel experience.
- A desire to grow and take on new challenges as they arise.
- Desire and ability to work as part of a team and with diverse personalities, groups, and culture.
- Experience counseling engineering or other technical clients.
- Sound judgment that incorporates legal analysis, a pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals, risk tolerance, and external stakeholder priorities
- Good writing skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Project management skills and the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in the face of competing priorities.
