Midwest Direct is looking for a Human Resources Assistant!
**$500 Sign-On Bonus!**
Job Duties:
As an HR Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the HR department and contributing to the smooth operation of our human resources functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Recruitment & Hiring: Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes for frontline employees.
- HR Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation. Perform periodic audits of HR files to ensure completeness.
- Payroll Support: Act as a liaison between operational staff and the Finance department by answering employee questions, resolving processing errors, and distributing physical checks.
- Employee Relations & Policies: Answer common HR-related inquiries and refer complex questions to senior HR staff. Help enforce company policies and maintain confidentiality of HR files.
- New Hire Orientation: Conduct or assist with new hire orientation and onboarding processes. Ensure the I-9 certification process is completed properly.
- Attendance Management: Assist with tracking attendance for operational staff and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Event Planning & Execution: Assist with organizing employee events such as benefits enrollment, meetings, recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Other Duties: Provide clerical support to the HR department and assist with other related tasks as needed.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 40 - 45 hours a week
- Core Hours: 9AM - 4PM
Compensation:
- $45,000 - $50,000 based on experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and payroll software (experience with Paycom or similar applications is a plus).
- Self-driven, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Comfortable working with employees at all levels and capable of handling employee concerns with empathy, fairness, and firmness when needed.
- Knowledge of human resources principles, including recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in HR administration, recruitment, or related roles preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) a plus.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new HR software and technologies.
Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
