The position of Intensive Outpatient Therapist- DJJ is responsible for:
- Provides counseling/crisis intervention/case management services, as part of a system of family preservation and support services, to at-risk children, adolescents, and their families who may have more intensive outpatient counseling services. Children are identified and referred by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Services to include client identification, comprehensive needs assessment, planning, implementing and monitoring service plans, counseling, court reporting to include monthly progress reports to be submitted for court review and advocacy and resource development.
- Provides crisis intervention counseling from the Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy model to children, adults, and families for short-term intensive periods, or for longer-term, less intensive periods, as determined by the needs of the consumer and family.
- Provides additional case management services, such as coordinating in-patient discharge planning, coordinating with juvenile detention centers and assisting clients in connecting to natural and professional resources for support to relieve/prevent crises as relates to family preservation and support services.
- Develops, implements and monitors treatment plans comprised of counseling interventions specifically designed to meet each individual client’s needs.
- Works in collaboration with Youth and Family Services School Based Outpatient Coordinator, the Department of Juvenile Services and other members of local Family Assessment and Planning Team, as defined by the state Comprehensive Services Act, to determine level of intervention required.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with agencies collaborating under the state Comprehensive Services Act, including juvenile court services units, departments of social services, schools, public health, and other public and private agencies and individuals involved with children at risk as defined by the Act.
- Keeps informed as to current literature and legislation related to the Comprehensive Services Act, family counseling, family preservation and support, and crisis intervention.
- Consults on a regular basis with agency staff and supervisors regarding implementation of curricula and programs and administrative issues.
- Provides referral and consultative services regarding other agencies in the community which provide counseling, treatment, and support programs.
- Maintains complete, accurate, and current clinical charts and records; updates Outreach Team Manual
- Provides after-hours, holiday, and weekend coverage as part of the system of family preservation and family support services
