Job Summary/Basic Function

The Early Intervention (EI) Specialist will provide regular home and/or community based educational services to children birth to three years who have developmental delays or disabilities, and provide support for their families as outlined on the family's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). The EI will work collaboratively with other professionals (e.g., service coordinators, therapists, interpreters, etc.) to support these children and their families by participating in IFSP meetings, completing visits together; exchanging information about strategies for helping families achieve child and family goals; maintaining accurate and up to date documentation as required by the program and by the state funding agency and performing other related tasks or special projects as assigned. Note: This position is contingent upon continued funding.

Required Education

Bachelor's or advanced degree in one of the following:
  • Early Childhood Special Education (preferred)
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Child Development/Family Studies
  • Elementary Education
  • Closely related field (i.e., deaf education, visual disabilities. special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders, and speech/language pathology) Related field means a degree in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology.

Required Related Experience

One (1) year experience including practicum, internship, volunteer or work experience with young children and their families. If degree is in a related field, a minimum of 3 years documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Valid TN driver's license, reliable transportation with vehicle insurance coverage required.

Desirable Related Experience

One (1) year work experience with young children with disabilities and their families; providing home visits to families with young children; conducting and interpreting early childhood assessments preferred.

Desirable License/Registration/Certification

Early Childhood Special Education preferred.
