NATURE OF DUTIES:
Under physician supervision, the Stress Lab Registered Nurse provides holistic care, assisting in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Current, unencumbered RN license.
- Minimum of 2 years of critical care or similar experience.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Complete EKG, stress testing, and cardiology courses within 12 months.
- Strong communication skills.
- Preferred: Advanced certification in cardiology.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assist with stress tests (non-pharmacologic, pharmacologic, PET) under the Nuclear Technologist’s guidance.
- Perform IV management, EKG preparation and interpretation, monitor vital signs, and report abnormalities to the physician.
- Manage stress agent adverse effects under physician guidance.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to promote wellness and provide direct care as needed.
- Assist with special tests and procedures.
- Implement and clarify physician orders, report therapeutic results, and provide appropriate care.
- Administer medications and treatments.
COMMUNICATION & COORDINATION:
- Monitor test results, report findings, and provide nursing instructions.
- Act as liaison between patients, physicians, nursing staff, and other personnel.
- Advocate for patients' needs, including medical and religious preferences.
- Provide patient and family education.
