What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Psychologist position at Midwest Health?
About Midwest Health:
Midwest Health is a warm, welcoming clinic in Burnsville, MN. Our team of mental health professionals and practitioners as well as support staff are dedicated to our clients, our community, and each other. We mainly serve a suburban outpatient population; however, our relationship with Midwest Recovery opens doors to work with people receiving inpatient and outpatient co-occurring treatment as well as clients who require services provided in Spanish. As an integrative team, we work together to ensure our clients receive the kind of care that promotes stable and more long-term wellness.
The Position :
Midwest Health is seeking pre-licensed, postdoctoral clinicians on a psychology licensure track to join our team within a flexible and self-directed program. We offer an environment in which individuals can build new skills and obtain competency in a developmentally focused approach. The position is designed to be a one-year full-time training placement with the hope of extended or permanent placement within the Midwest team. Clinicians at Midwest Health have the choice to work as independent contractors who earn a percentage of the revenue they bring into the clinic or as W2 employees.
The position offers recent graduates of doctoral programs in psychology the opportunity to expand the breadth of their clinical skills while earning the necessary supervised hours toward Minnesota State licensure. In a caring environment, the post doc provides generalist psychology services such as individual and group counseling and psychological testing to address a broad range of clinical needs typical in an outpatient suburban population. The postdoc will also have the opportunity to supervise and train practicum students. They may work with the Training Director/Clinical Supervisors to identify areas for advanced competency, such as specific group therapy work, Collaborative/Therapeutic Assessment, clinical supervision, and/or psychological testing.
What we’ll expect from you:
- Provide clinical services including individual, group, and family/couples psychotherapy, consultation, and referrals
- Regularly attend and participate in two hours of individual supervision, one hour of group supervision, and one hour of multidisciplinary consultation each week
- Provide clinical supervision and training opportunities to graduate-level practicum student(s) and practitioners who are not independently licensed
- Provide psychoeducational training and case consultation within the clinic
- Document all professional activities in case notes, treatment plans, assessments, emergency reports, and other clinic documents in a clear and timely fashion
- Demonstrate proficiency for the skills and adherence to legal, regulatory, accrediting, ethical, and procedural requirements and/or to utilize supervision to continue to develop these skills
- Understand and follow principles and standards as outlined in Midwest Health’s employee handbook
- Protect client and team member privacy and only access client and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties
- Report violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Clinical Director via established methods of communication
- Accept other responsibilities as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals
