Medical Assistant/Receptionist Hybrid

Midwest Refuah Health Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Patient Services Representative/Medical Assistant Hybrid to provide exceptional patient care and ensure smooth office operations. As a key member of our team, you will serve as the first impression for patients and provide both administrative and clinical support. The ideal candidate will balance the needs of patients while maintaining efficient workflow, supporting providers before, during, and after procedures. This position requires flexibility, with some evenings and weekend hours.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Patient Services:

• Greet and welcome patients and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Schedule appointments for providers, optimizing patient satisfaction and provider time.
• Ensure patient registration is accurate, including verification of insurance, address, phone number, and demographics.
• Collect and process patient balances and co-payments at the time of service.
• Participate in daily care team huddles to coordinate patient care.
• Assist with insurance papers, billing questions, and office supply inventory.
• Maintain reception and waiting areas in an orderly condition.
• Support patient care by coordinating transportation when necessary.
• Answer patient inquiries or refer them to appropriate staff members.
• Participate in patient call campaigns as needed.

Medical Assistant:

• Escort patients to exam rooms and accurately takes vitals (WT, HT, Pulse O2, BP, RR)
• Records patient histories (PMH, FH, SH) in the EMR
• Assist patient in completing forms/ questionnaires if needed.
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomy under provider direction.
• Perform point-of-care testing, label, and process specimens.
• Assist with prescription refills and notify patients of lab results.
• Ensure procedure rooms are neat and prepared for use.
• Assist providers during medical procedures, following specific instructions and preferences.
• Prepare and turn over exam rooms between appointments.
• Provide patients with post-appointment instructions and ensure follow-up care is clear.
• Follows up with referral process.
• Actively prepares and participates in huddle
• Monitor and replenish medical supplies as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in both administrative and clinical tasks in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with scheduling systems and electronic health records.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in computer systems and electronic health records.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the office for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds occasionally.
• Occasional exposure to communicable diseases, contaminated blood, and body fluids.
