The Manager, Human Resources (HR) oversees daily HR operations and provides support across key functional areas, including talent management, policy administration, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, and employee relations. This role helps ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees, supports leadership in managing performance, and helps maintain compliance with employment laws and organizational policies. The Manager, HR works closely with the Chief People Officer and leadership to align HR initiatives with the organization’s strategic plan while fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
HUMAN RESOURCES
- Performs all aspects of the day-to-day HR department, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, programs, and procedures throughout the organization.
- Partners with the Chief People Officer (CPO), and HR team to promote and support the corporate culture of the organization, working closely with leaders and employees to cultivate positive working relationships, promote high employee morale, foster strong employee engagement and belonging, and celebrate employee achievements.
- Manages designated staff toward the accomplishment of MTN’s Mission and goals, including employee selection, training and development, coaching and counseling, performance review and recognition, promotional and disciplinary actions in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws (e.g. FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and anti-discrimination laws), prioritizing compliance and minimizing legal risks.
- Manages employee relations efforts in partnership with the Sr. HR Generalist and leadership.
- Provides guidance and counsel to both leaders and employees on matters pertaining to employee relations.
- Collaborates with CPO, General Counsel, leadership and staff to address complex employee relations issues, including conducting comprehensive, objective, and effective investigations.
- Works with leadership during staff disciplinary actions and termination processes.
- In conjunction with the General Counsel and Advisor on Governmental Affairs and CPO, manages employment related issues within regulatory and legal requirements, including oversight of legal issues such as unemployment hearings, EEOC claims, etc.
- Oversees talent acquisition activities, ensuring effective hiring of qualified candidates and compliance with equal employment opportunity laws.
- Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer and CPO to ensure accurate and efficient processing of the MTN biweekly payroll process.
- Serves as the HRIS Administrator and provides support across HR functions to ensure data integrity, streamline departmental processes, and maintain regulatory compliance.
- In conjunction with the Sr. HR Generalist, oversees employee benefits programs ensuring market competitiveness and comprehensive offerings.
- In conjunction with the CPO, assists in developing, implementing, and updating HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws, employment regulations and company policies. Ensures consistency in the interpretation and application of HR policies across the organization.
- Manages the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, documenting performance related-information and administering the electronic performance management software.
- Supports the CPO with maintaining oversight of MTN salary administration programs to ensure salaries are market competitive.
- Partners with the leadership team to develop and maintain accurate and appropriate job descriptions, ensuring roles and expectations are clearly defined.
- Conducts periodic HR audits and identifies opportunities to enhance compliance, streamline processes, and improve overall efficiency.
- Supports MTN committees, including Wellness and Spirit, with a focus on maintaining MTN culture.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required.
- PHR, SHRM-CP or CEBS certification, or ability to obtain certification within two years required.
- 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior level HR role required. Minimum of three years management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of all local, state and federal labor and employment law and regulations.
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment and ability to solve problems amid uncertainty and shifting priorities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and proven effectiveness in conflict resolution and navigating sensitive workplace situations.
- Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information while consistently exemplifying the MTN culture and B-REAL core values.
- Detail oriented, organized and excellent tracking/reporting skills.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, MS Office, and other HR-related software.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
- Ability to lift 15 pounds and transfer short distances.
- Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
- Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
- OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
- Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
