Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Credit & Collections Associate for our Las Vegas, Nevada Branch.

Job Summary

On a daily basis, release customer orders from credit hold and contact delinquent customers for past due payments. This position will report to our Corporate Office in Lakeville Minnesota.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor the aging of assigned individual account balances and contact customers as appropriate to collect outstanding past due balances with a goal of collecting payments while maintaining a strong positive relationship with the customer. Communicate with inside and outside sales personnel on the status of more troublesome accounts.
  • Review customer orders on credit hold throughout the day and release held orders for shipment when appropriate based on the customer’s credit status. For orders that cannot be released for shipment, communicate with inside and outside sales personnel for assistance resolving any credit issues so the order can be released for shipment.
  • Take in bound customer calls, research and reconcile account balance questions from customers. Process credit card or ACH transactions over the phone in accordance to the customers direction with great accuracy.
  • Assist in establishing credit limits and payment terms for new accounts, review and update on existing accounts.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • A minimum of two years of collections or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience working in collections at a sales-driven organization desired
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • A working knowledge of general accounts receivable principles
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer applications to include Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • The ability to effectively work with others throughout the organization
  • Ability to work accurately with highly detailed information

  • Frequent deadlines must be met requiring a fast pace of work and stress
  • Potential for stress related to a typical receivables problem resolution process
  • Continuous use of hands for writing and computer keyboard
  • Continuous use of a computer monitor requiring close vision
  • Frequent use of a telephone – listening and speaking
  • Ability to work at a desk throughout the day

Equipment Used

Regularly uses typical office equipment including computer keyboard and terminal, telephone, fax, and copier.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a hybrid environment Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required.
