Background:

THE NARRATIVE:
Mill Plain Electric’s Transportation SBU (Strategic Business Unit) Leader is responsible for the Leadership and Management of the Transportation SBU. The Transportation SBU executes Electrical construction contracts, primarily in Public Works.
This leader is an exceptional communicator who uses various management and leadership methods and techniques depending on the person and the situation. He/she is an excellent active listener. Being highly respectful of others, this empathetic listener asks the right questions and takes detailed notes to ensure timely and effective follow-through.
This sensible and practical leader operates from a base of common sense, keeping things simple, relevant, and real. Honest, and always acting with integrity, this humbly confident person leaves his/her ego at the door, is understanding, and quickly responds to the needs of others. Valuing the worth and dignity of all people, he/she keeps politics and drama out of the organization, fostering an environment of mutual respect for the ideas and opinions of others.

PART TWO: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead, mentor, and develop the Project Management and Craft Workforce Team Members in alignment with Company Core Values.
- Business Development for the Transportation SBU
- Engage in Preconstruction efforts for the department with enthusiasm and positivity.
- Responsible for the successful Planning and Execution of projects within your SBU
- Responsible for the Profit & Loss of your SBU.
- Ensure Projects within your SBU are executed in alignment with Company processes
- Active participation in Weekly/Quarterly/Annual Operations Meetings.
- Work in harmony with all other departments to support overall business objectives.

PART FOUR: TICKET
The Ticket consists of the skills, experience, and education/training required, preferred, or desired for the person selected for this position.
REQUIRED:
- Respectful, but VERY FIRM.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Works construction contracting.
- Intimate knowledge & understanding of Public Works construction contracting methods.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a key leadership position with supervisory authority and evidence of having been a coach/mentor to team members.
PREFERRED:
- Experience in Public Works Electrical construction.
- Hands-on field experience in Electrical construction.
- Experience in the electrical supply chain.
DESIRED:
- Experience working for an IBEW contractor.
