**About the Role:**
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking highly skilled professionals to fill Transportation Generalist and Associate positions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and reconstructing roadways, participating in bituminous road repair, culvert cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance on highway equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconstruct roadways to ensure safe and efficient travel
- Participate in bituminous road repair and culvert cleaning
- Perform preventive maintenance on highway equipment
- Operate tractor mowers and small rollers to maintain roadside landscaping
- Conduct rest area maintenance, including building and grounds upkeep, vegetation control, and parking surface repairs
- Drive and operate various heavy equipment to perform snow and ice duties, including removing snow from roadways and shoulders, applying anti-icing and de-icing chemicals, and removing frozen ice and materials from culverts
Requirements:
- A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake restriction and a tanker endorsement
- One year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and the public
