What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Aide - Houston County position at Minnesota Merit System?
Full-time position to provide case management support to the Income Maintenance Unit, along with additional para-professional and clerical tasks as assigned. Responsible for screening/collecting client information; assisting Eligibility Workers with case record management; and assisting with internal auditing procedures.

Assist the Financial Assistance Supervisor with internal audits:
-SNAP audit – select random sample of cases for internal audit
-Maintain accurate records and make corrections in compliance with internal audit findings
-Pull and review information sent for quality assurance audits
-Assist Financial Assistance Eligibility Workers in delivering client services and managing cases:
-Maintain case records; review case records for accuracy, completion of requisite agency forms
-Enter data into various computer systems including MAXIS, MMIS, MN-ITS, CURAM, ebtEdge, SIR, DEED, EDMS
-Perform expedited review of SNAP application eligibility
-Process/prepare Medical Assistance access claim forms and contact clients to resolve discrepancies
-Oversee the regular issuance of client mileage vouchers and respond to client questions regarding mileage vouchers
-Approve and issue “Cost Effective Insurance” vouchers; provide paperwork to both new enrollees and recertified clients
-Inform clients of the right to appeal and of other client rights
-Assist in scanning and record retention within OnBase system
-MEC2: Perform Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) duties; process new applications
Clerical:
-Provide receptionist duties including greeting the public and answering the telephones
-Perform various clerical duties as assigned including issuing EBT cards, processing department mail, and drafting correspondence and reports as needed
-Maintain client records within various systems
-Other PHHS support as assigned Two years of study at an accredited two or four year college/university with an emphasis in the behavioral sciences or related field (at least 23 quarter credits or 16 semester credits)
-OR-
• Two years of experience as a community service aide or similar experience in a private non-profit agency or other public agency
-OR-
• Two years of successful clerical experience in a social services/human services agency
-OR-
• Three years of successful clerical experience and/or experience working with the public, or the equivalent
-AND-
• Minnesota DHS Case Aide Merit qualified
Houston County Preferred Qualifications
Requires two years of progressively responsible clerical experience, preferably with a public agency, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and eligibility for placement on the MN Merit System Register for Case Aide.
Other Pre-Employment Standards/Requirements
• Pass a criminal history/background check
In order to be considered for this job, you must take and pass an examination, which is offered online. The examination consists of four (4) units measuring math skills used in determining eligibility for services, reading comprehension, basic math and sentence clarity. You will need a piece of scratch paper or calculator to complete the exam. After your Merit System application has been submitted, you will be sent a link to access the examination sections. Set aside enough time (slightly over an hour) to take this examination in its entirety (in one sitting). If you click out of a section before completing it - it will score the unanswered questions as "0s" zeros and you will not be given credit.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
