Job Description
The Technology Services Support Specialist is responsible for deploying and supporting a wide range of technologies utilized by faculty and staff at the University. The position is essential to Information Technology Service's mission of providing a wide spectrum of quality information technology services and support for the University.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relations field or 1 year experience in computer science/IT role
  • Current experience providing information technology support services including experience with installing a) computer stations, b) unique software packages, c)peripheral devices such as printers, and d) troubleshooting and resolving computer workstation issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications, Internet browsers, Adobe Creative Suite, and other common software applications necessary to support effective consultation for the University community members having questions on using such applications.
  • Familiarity with programming/scripting languages sufficient to support implementation of automated tools that support computer workstation deployment and maintenance.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skill necessary to be part of a service-oriented unit.
  • Demonstrated record of ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to move materials and equipment is required.
Preferred Qualification
  • A minimum of 1 year experience with information technology support services in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with both PC and Macintosh operating systems.
  • Applied experience implementing security patches and standards on computer workstations.
  • Current experience providing information technology support services including experience with installing a) computer stations, b) unique software packages, c) peripheral devices such as printers, and d) troubleshooting and resolving computer workstation issues.
  • A sufficient understanding of wired and wireless local area network (LAN) technology and configurations necessary to support network devices (i.e. computer workstations, mobile device, printers, etc.)
  • Writing and presentation skills sufficient to support effective training sessions on technology topics to be provided to a range of clientele.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
