Operator - Natural Gas Utility Construction

A Gas Utility Operator’s responsibilities include working closely with Foremen and other team members, both inside and outside of equipment, to install gas facilities and other civil infrastructure. Operators must demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, a safety-first mindset, and a genuine desire to work in the utility industry. The equipment used includes backhoes, excavators, skid steers, loaders, and more as needed. Responsibilities
- Operating proficiently a variety of equipment including but not limited to, backhoes, excavators, loaders, skid steers
- Perform hand digging with a shovel to locate existing utilities.
- Use various hand and power tools throughout various projects
- Conduct tool and vehicle maintenance.
- Load and unload materials and equipment
- Train workers to promote career growth
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Demonstrate Safe practices by leading by example
- Maintain positive working relationships internally and with external constituents
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
· Prior experience in gas utility industry highly desired
· Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work with others
· Ability to follow instructions and work independently
· NGA Operator Qualifications Highly Desired
Requirements
· Valid Driver’s license
· Valid Massachusetts Operators license
· Ability to pass and maintain Operator Qualifications as assigned
· Ability to pass pre- and post-employment DOT drug screenings
· Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
· Ability to obtain satisfactory results of a background check
· Ability to Lift 50lbs independently
· Hand digging as required
· Work outdoors in all weather conditions
