The General Manager plays a critical role in the success of Miss Lucille's Market Place. As a general manager, you oversee the day-to-day operations of Miss Lucile's Marketplace, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and your team meets its goals. In this role, you must wear many hats, including those of a leader, strategist, and problem-solver.
Key Competencies
Leadership: The General Manager is responsible for setting the tone and direction for the entire team. They must be able to motivate and inspire their team and create an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and growth.
Financial Management: Must have a strong understanding of the financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and use this information to make informed decisions about financial matters that impact Miss Lucille's Market Place.
Problem-Solving: Is the first point of contact when problems arise within Miss Lucille's Market Place. They must be able to quickly assess the situation, develop solutions, and take action to resolve the issue. This requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and outside the box.
Communication: Must be excellent communicators within the organization and with vendors. Effectively convey the company vision and goals to their team and represent the organization in negotiations, presentations, and other interactions with partners, customers, and other stakeholders.
Team Management: This includes partnering with human resources to recruit, train, and evaluate employees, as well as managing performance, providing feedback, and setting expectations.
Responsibilities
Overseeing Daily Operations
- Responding to and fielding all emails, phone calls, and messages for the store
- Create, approve, and review staff schedules.
- Ensures end-of-day processes of counting down the register and composing deposits are done.
- Well-versed in returns, hold, sold for later pick up, gift cards, custom orders, vendor calls, and customer negotiations.
- Oversees team member purchases.
- Documents and reports any problems with the store, vendors, customers, and team members.
- Has an understanding and responsibility in void processing and documentation.
- Takes charge of high volume in retail situations and communicates line traffic.
Vendor Responsibilities
- Maintaining the vendor waiting list. Current applicants call, email, and stop by the store to check on the status of their applications.
- Vendor Transition. Accepting booth termination notices, selecting new candidates, presenting new candidates to the selection committee, and ensuring the booth is clean and suitable for new tenants.
- New Vendor onboarding. Works with owners to select new vendors to move in. Entering information into the POS system, collecting initial rent payments, reviewing the rules and regulations, and managing any other issues that arise from a new vendor move in
- Managing current vendor issues. Many vendor issues include but are not limited to missing items, account corrections, electricity issues, and addressing items that are not allowed in the store.
- Coordinating with the vendors via email about store policy changes and events
- Vendor Appreciation. Develop ways to acknowledge vendors to make them feel special and a part of the community.
- Coordinate quarterly vendor workshops.
- Conduct yearly vendor evaluation sessions.
- Communicate with marketing on new vendors, vendor changes, etc., for social media updating.
End-of-Month Settlement
- Review all accounts individually, including rent adjustments, issuing fees and credits, and commission amounts, and assess any other issues.
- Print all checks and vendor monthly reports and print check sign-out sheet.
- Email all vendors that have an outstanding balance.
- Collect rent payments and follow up with any vendor that has not paid by the 15th of every month.
- Be available to pass out checks/address any issues on the 5th of every month.
- Provide reports to the accountant for settling and print end-of-month reports for the accountant and submit them in a folder before the 10th of the month.
Maintaining the POS System, Store Sales Tracking, and Reports
- Maintaining updates to the store POS system. Our software goes through at least one update a month. All devices must be manually updated, and changes must be reviewed for practical use.
- Modifying and manipulating the software to our store needs with the help and instruction of Go Antiquing support.
- Exporting sales data requested by the store owners or accountants and modifying/creating spreadsheets.
- Track vendor sales and growth.
Store Merch Inventory
- Maintains the inventory of all store's promotional inventory.
- Notify the proper channels when orders need to be placed or place orders independently.
- Keep up with purchase invoices and sales tracking of merch items.
- Continue to improve the merchandise booth.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Highly motivated with relevant experience.
- Experience working with vendor marketplaces is not required but is beneficial.
- Able to multitask multiple assignments
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- P&L management
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set goals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Google Suite or similar software.
Education
- College degree preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in business management, Business Administration, or a related field is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at a time.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
