Overview
Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) is adding a Benefits Specialist to be an important member of our
growing People Solutions Department.
Location: 20450 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076
Shift Details: This position is Hybrid (3 days in office and 2 days remote)
Job Summary: The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits programs including self-funded benefits, worker's compensation, and leaves of absence administration. This position acts as a liaison between the veterinary clinics and the People Solutions team. The Benefits Specialist is data driven, provides excellent customer service, and continually looks to improve existing processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
How you’ll make an impact:
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Assists with various employee benefits programs, such as self-funded group health, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k) and wellness benefits.
- Supports benefits operations and compliance of a multi-state benefits program.
- Acts as a liaison to newly acquired clinics throughout the United States.
- Is primary point of contact for escalated benefits issues ensuring resolution of complex issues from team members, clinics, People Solutions, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Supports all benefits related communications including open enrollment materials/presentations and training.
- Assists with new hire enrollment and processing of Qualifying Event status changes.
- Processes and administers all leaves of absence requests and disability paperwork.
- Provides analysis, research, communication and administration of benefits programs and the processes associated with supporting these programs.
- Assists with evaluating effectiveness of current programs/plans and makes recommendations regarding improvements or changes to better align with industry best practices or company objectives.
- Creates benefits related policies and procedures documentation.
- Supports all major department initiatives including annual enrollment, annual audits and the company's wellness program.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in FMLA, ADA and workers' compensation.
- Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal employee benefit laws and regulations including, but not limited to: ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, section 125 plans, 401(k) plans as well as applicable IRS and DOL regulations.
- Plays critical various roles and at different skill levels (from plan design to hands on basic administration) to ensure the company's Benefits team is successful.
Qualifications
Talents you’ll bring to MVP:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- 3-5 years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail is essential; must be able to organize, prioritize, multi-task and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
