What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class Assistant/Support Care Professional III position at Mississippi Adolescent Center / BRC?
Qualifications or Skill Required:
Third-level Support Care position accountable for taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors, and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. May mentor or direct the work of lower-level employees. Communicates with doctors, patients, and families, and educates patients on care. May provide transport to offsite appointments and application of restraints when necessary.
Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency, and 2-3 years of experience. May require a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) designation.
Responsibilities but not limited to:
· Assist Class Lead in producing and performing educational daily events and community living instructional lessons to students during class times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm each week.
· Assist Class Lead in producing monthly calendar, weekly, daily lesson plans and documents
· Assist Class Lead in producing materials needed for the lesson plans
· Light cleaning of Education areas
· Report to Erma Butler, Education Supervisor on Wednesday for instructions on duties which may include assisting RLS in the dorms or with doctor appointments on Wednesday 8:30 am – 4 pm.
· Observe, monitor, and care for individuals with IDD needs
· Interact with clients to build rapport and provide emotional support
· Interacts with individuals or groups in appropriate active treatment, therapeutic programming, leisure activities and behavior management within the facility and on planned outings
· Collect, compile, and analyze various forms of behavioral data to help determine assessment needs
· Ability to enter and access data from various computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access Database)
· Intervene and assist clients with de-escalating when crisis and non-crisis situations occur
· Other duties as assigned by Class Lead and Education Supervisor
· Subject to late days as assigned
