General Function
The Clinical Assistant Professor is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities for clinical education and service. Clinical faculty may participate in research or other scholarly or creative activities.
Description Of Primary Duties
The position is a 9 or 12 month appointment and responsibilities include some or all of the following: assisting with placement of students in clinical assignments, assist with clinical evaluation collection, or both summative and cumulative student reports. Travel to clinical sites may be required. Quality improvement projects as requested by the Program Director, and Simulation Lab and Skills lab coordination. Responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus, evening or weekend duties, as well as student recruitment, retention and placement efforts. Position reports directly to the Program Director. Teaching load is expected as required by the college, including anesthesia related material as assigned by the Department Head.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the use of student focused pedagogy in the classroom in order to engage students in the learning process and will join a unit that is dedicated to providing students with access to high impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success. Responsibilities include teaching graduate students, advising and supporting graduate students in our Seated entry level anesthesia program and our online MS to DNAP Completion program, and service to the school, college, university, and community.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the Clinical Assistant Professor rank are determined by the department and approved by the Dean and the Provost. Clinical Faculty must be qualified as defined by professional/discipline standards, have practical experience appropriate for the responsibilities assigned, and must maintain appropriate professional credentials.
Additional Qualifications
Doctorate ( DNAP , DNP or PhD) in Anesthesia or Nursing or closely related field or in progress
A currently credentialed Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the US with an unencumbered license
Potential for or evidence of innovative, learner-centered pedagogy
Ability to teach courses in the School of Anesthesia
The ability or potential to mentor and support our student population
