POSITION SUMMARY

- The Real Estate Accountant will play a vital role in managing the financial activities of our family-owned, privately held residential and commercial real estate investment portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work across a variety of tasks, including all areas of accounting, cash flow and real estate-specific responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions required to support the individual needs of each unique business unit within the real estate investment portfolio.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger for approximately 20 entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Execute month-end closing procedures and assist in year-end preparation and closing.
- Prepare monthly financial reports to provide insights into the performance of each property.
- Conduct daily cash reconciliations and reporting to the Controller to ensure accurate cash flow management.
- Assist in the preparation of annual reviews, property budgets, and tax returns.
- Prepare common area maintenance invoices, statements, and analyses of annual charges.
- Record related party and intercompany transactions in coordination with the Real Estate Administration team.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Experience with Real Page is a plus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA a plus.
- 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in real estate accounting or property management.
