Corporate Controller

Momentum Environmental (“Momentum”) provides specialized environmental, industrial and waste management services to several leading industries in the northeast. Momentum has an opening for an experienced Corporate Controller. Momentum serves an impressive client base in the northeast and is experiencing rapid growth through organic and M&A activities. The Controller will support Momentum`s accounting and financial reporting needs.

This position reports to the CFO and is primarily responsible for Momentum’s technical accounting, financial statement preparation, analysis, and consolidation of reporting entities. The job responsibilities may be changed or expanded at will and are expected to expand in conjunction with experience and the Company’s growing needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and annual closing processes
• Daily review of cash inflows and outflows and select weekly vendor payments
• Responsible for accounts receivable and collections efforts with department heads
• Review monthly activity entered in the accounting and operating systems to ensure that all income and expenses are categorized and coded appropriately
• Prepare the monthly financial and operating reporting packages
• Perform analytical procedures over the financial reports, prepare variance analyses, and follow up on significant fluctuations
• Develop, install and/or improve programs that produce weekly KPIs including labor and equipment utilization, backlog, pipeline, forecasts
• Oversee the reconciliation of key financial accounts on a monthly basis
• Participate as a leading team member in activities supporting the installation of new accounting software and related processes
• Serve as the technical accounting resource for the Company, which includes research of unusual and complex accounting transactions
• Ensure accounting controls are in place and operating effectively
• Participate and oversee the financial integration of acquired entities
• Work with CFO and department managers to drive the development of annual budget and monthly forecasts
• Take part in special projects requested by senior management, including special reports and process improvements
• Foster the professional development of direct reports to improve accountability and increase visibility within the organization
• Manage commission plans, payments, and expense reimbursements for sales team

Specific Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of accounting/finance related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or MBA preferred
• Large regional public accounting experience preferred
• Excellent knowledge of internal controls and US GAAP
• Environmental industry experience preferred, knowledge of private equity a plus
• Excellent computer skills including proficient use of MS Excel and Word
• Experience with Acumatica, QuickBooks, or other cloudbased accounting systems a plus; experience with comparable platforms/systems required
• Ability to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries
• Ability to work as part of a team and overcome challenges associated with a small, rapidly growing business
• Must be detailed oriented with strong analytical skills
• Demonstrate ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines; ability to adapt to change
• Must be able to assume initiative and work independently with minimal direction
• Strong communication, organizational, time management, and documentation skills
