What are the responsibilities and job description for the MPS Summer Program- Dean of Student Services position at Monroe Public Schools?
- An associate’s degree or equivalent college coursework is required.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- At least three (3) years of experience in an educational setting, teaching experience, or other significant experience with youth.
- Demonstrated and verifiable record of excellent, positive, and productive relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, students, auxiliary staff, and the community at large.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Competent in technology.
- Student Discipline
- Supervise the conduct of students in all areas within the school and on school buses.
- Handle disposition of students following policies and guidelines of Monroe Public Schools.
- Apprise Executive Director of Elementary Student Services and principal or assistant principal of all conduct believed to require:
- Police contact including School Resource Officer.
- Suspension(s) in excess of four (4) days.
- Enter and/or delegate entry of disciplinary actions into the computer database maintaining an up-to-date, ongoing, and progressive record of student disciplinary actions.
- Serve as a school liaison with the court, probation officers, attendance officers, and the School Resource Officer.
- Support staff with disciplinary matters when they have initiated appropriate, progressive disciplinary action on their own.
- Use video camera monitoring to assist in establishing charges of vandalism, disciplinary behaviors, and other incidents that may occur in the building.
- Assist in updating discipline guidelines for students and staff.
- Performs other duties as may be delegated by the Executive Director of Elementary Student Services.
