Position Overview: Are you a passionate attorney eager to make a meaningful difference in public education? We are looking for a dynamic and skilled attorney to join our collaborative team. In this vital role, you will directly support school boards across Montana, providing expert legal guidance in navigating the complex landscape of public education law. Your contributions will be instrumental in shaping quality education and empowering communities throughout Montana.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver Expert Legal Counsel : Provide astute legal advice to school boards on a variety of education-related matters, including governance, student rights, personnel policies, and compliance with federal and state laws.
· Document Management : Skillfully draft and review policies, contracts, and legal documents to ensure they meet current legal standards.
· Stay Informed : Monitor and analyze relevant legislation, regulations, and case law impacting public education in Montana, ensuring your knowledge is always current.
· Empower Through Education : Conduct engaging training sessions and workshops for school board members and administrators on key legal topics, enhancing their understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
· Forge Collaborations : Build relationships with various stakeholders—government agencies, educators, and community organizations—to advocate for the educational interests of Montana's students.
· Strategic Innovation : Assist in developing and executing legal strategies to tackle challenges faced by public schools, calling for effective solutions at both local and state levels.
Qualifications:
· Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
· Active law license in Montana or eligibility to sit for the Montana Bar Exam.
· Previous experience in public education, education law, labor and employment law or public sector law preferred.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills with a passion for collaboration.
· Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
