What We Do

Monterey Consultants brings significant experience performing comprehensive management consulting in support of highly visible Government programs. Monterey currently has several contracts with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the United States Air Force, and the United States Department of Agriculture. We provide acquisition and contract administration support, Lean Six Sigma, market research, strategic sourcing, category management, specialized data analysis, program management, financial/budgetary analysis support, operations/management support, and technical assistance.

Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist (Helene Storm Recovery Project)

Contract Length: Through September 28th or project completion.

Schedule: Monday ' Friday, 8am ' 5pm or as directed by NCDOT.

Pay Rate: $52-$62/hr

Work location: Division 14 Henderson County Maintenance: 693 Mountain Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28791

Job Summary: We are seeking four skilled Accounts Payable Specialists to assist with invoice processing for the Helene storm recovery project. This role will provide critical support in managing the increased workload associated with storm response efforts. The selected candidates will review, approve, and process purchase requisitions and invoices, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions within the NCDOT/SAP system. This position requires in-person work at designated locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process invoices and purchase requisitions related to Helene storm response efforts.
  • Prepare, process, release, and track purchase orders for both external vendors and internal requests.
  • Utilize SAP and Ariba systems to manage accounts payable functions efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with NCDOT guidelines.
  • Collaborate with division accounting staff to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of providing a broad range of complex acquisition management support services.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret State's acquisition policy, regulations, and directives and apply those interpretations fully and legally to all activities described in the Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Able to analyze cost and pricing data, assistance in proposal evaluations, and assistance in preparing contract negotiations.
  • Proven experience in accounting, specifically accounts payable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience developing complex accounting worksheets and reports.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Ariba, or mainframe databases.
  • Ability to review and approve invoices and purchase requisitions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
