Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Specialist performs a variety of accounting and bookkeeping duties according to established procedures. Maintains contact with staff and vendors and observes confidentiality of vendors and company matters. Possess computer skills and word processing with good mathematical background required to perform in an accounting setting.
Essential Functions:
The Accounts Payable Specialist has the following responsibilities:
- Utilize computerized accounting software programs /QuickBooks/Excel/Word to perform duties and responsibilities;
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes;
- Code documents according to company procedures;
- Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records;
- Organizes and maintains up to date financial records;
- Match order forms with invoices, and record necessary information;
- Maintains telephone and personal contact with staff and vendors on payable matters.
- Reads manuals and procedures, maintains and updates procedural manuals as needed;
- Assist in analysis under the direction of the Vineyard Accounting Manager or Assistant Accounting Manager;
- Organizes and maintains retention files with support documentation for required period of time;
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree preferred

- 1 year of relevant accounting experience

- This position requires excellent verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to use office equipment such as computer, 10key, fax, and copy machine
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic, demonstrates good common sense and sound judgment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of file contents
- Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic, demonstrates good common sense and sound judgment.
- Bilingual/bi-literate preferred. (Spanish/English)
