Job Description
Montgomery College, Germantown campus, is seeking a Health Full-time faculty member to fill a position beginning August 2025. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.

The Department of Health Enhancement, Exercise Science and Physical Education supports three Associate of Arts programs (Community Health, Exercise Science and Physical Education Teacher Education), an Associate of Applied Science in Mental Health and an Associate of Science in Public Health Sciences. Students can also earn Letters of Recognition in Aging Studies, Personal Trainer Exam Preparation and an Advanced Personal Training Certificate through the Discipline. In addition, the Discipline offers general health courses and physical activity classes to the MC community. Our programs strive to offer students rigorous academic courses and practical experiences to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be successful in their careers.
The successful candidate will appreciate teaching in a multi-cultural environment, welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the credentials or experience to teach health classes that cover a variety of topics in multiple teaching formats, which demonstrate an ability to engage students. Faculty duties include classroom instruction, assessment, curriculum development, advising, developing and maintaining Online Educational Resources (OERs), professional inquiry, committee work and utilizing instructional technology. Several of our courses use OERs to yield cost savings for the students and to provide the most current content for faculty. Incoming faculty will utilize OERs in alignment with the other faculty in the discipline and may be asked to develop additional OER content.
Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Montgomery College has three campuses and instructs courses at area high schools. Faculty may be assigned to any of these campuses and/or teaching online.

Duties include but are not limited to:
The faculty member will be responsible for teaching a range of courses offered by the Health Enhancement, Exercise Science, and Physical Education Department. These courses may include, but are not limited to:
- General Health courses
- Health Behaviors
- Science and Theory of Health
Faculty are required to teach 30 semester hours per academic year, with a schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, off-campus locations, and online formats. Opportunities for teaching summer courses may also be available.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Serving on departmental, campus, and college committees.
- Advising students
- Maintaining an active program of professional development.
- Participating in professional organizations and related activities.
- Engaging in program evaluation and curriculum design related to the discipline.
- Supporting the Community Health program at the Germantown campus.
- Staying current with required certifications and participating in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Community Health, Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related field
- Proof that candidate is eligible to earn the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), must be submitted prior to interview.
- A minimum of two years of experience teaching health at the higher education level or equivalent experience in an academic setting (experience as a graduate teaching assistant is acceptable).
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) or Certified Public Health (CPH).
- Current Community Health Worker certification or experience working with the certification process.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health programs.
- Teaching experience in health education or related professional experience in a non-academic setting.
- Familiarity and experience with online course management systems.
Hiring Range: $62,319 - $94,876 annually.
