What You'll Be Doing
Tasks include:
- Providing ongoing support to consumers relating to eligibility, enrollment, post-enrollment, renewal, and disenrollment in Medicaid, MCHP, QHP and SADP at DHHS or community locations within Montgomery County.
- Facilitating plan selection based on the needs of the individual/family seeking health insurance coverage, correctly assessing tax implications and premium and cost-sharing requirements.
- Providing advice and assistance to consumers experiencing issues with the Maryland Health Connection online system, and following procedures established through Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) escalation process.
- Providing referrals to appropriate agencies, including the Attorney General’s Health Education and Advocacy Unit (HEAU) and the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA), for applicants and enrollees with grievances, complaints, or the need for other social services.
- Obtaining continuing education and being certified and/or recertified as Health Insurance Navigator by the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) on at least an annual basis, maintaining expertise in all health insurance affordability programs.
- Assisting with other duties as assigned or as needed to support program goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: None.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Experience to be considered: human service eligibility determination, direct customer service functions such as completing interviews, addressing and resolving customer issues.
Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences
We will use interview preference criteria:
Certified as Health Insurance Navigator.
- Experience in benefit eligibility/enrollment.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service internally and externally to diverse populations.
- Bilingual proficiency in one or more of the following languages highly desired: Amharic and Spanish with the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
