Benefits: The District provides retirement pension benefits through Contra Costa County Employees' Retirement Association (CCCERA.) All employees receive the FRA 414(h) earning equal to 3.91% of base salary, used to reduce the employee's share of retirement contributions. Base salary plus FRA equals the employee's hourly rate.

Responsibilities:
- Inspect properties for fire hazards and write correspondence setting forth violations and conditions for abatement.
- Enforce fire prevention regulations, including exterior hazard and general fire hazard notices.
- Participate in fire prevention projects such as fuels reduction.
- Operate a brush chipper, hand and power tools, and other equipment as necessary.
- Analyze structure ignition potential in the wildland/urban interface using a science-based approach.
- Make mitigation recommendations based on wildland fire behavior.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a High School diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or a high school equivalency certificate is required, some college preferred.
- Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Safety guidelines and appropriate safety procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Outside environment; exposure to noise and heavy equipment; work in inclement weather conditions; exposure to hazardous materials.
- Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, carrying, stacking, piling, bending, climbing, overhead reaching, crouching; heavy pulling and pushing; strength to lift up to 50 pounds.
