Position Description
The project manager / estimator is responsible for providing estimating, oversight, and management of the civil and marine construction projects, assisting with bids and proposals, client maintenance, and business development.
Position Essential Job Functions
Travel
- Will be required to travel to various US domestic client sites and other office locations approximately 30-60% of the time
Requirements
Develop and implement process improvements to maintain a competitive edge in the market
Review plans and specifications to complete the quantity take-off
Review all contracts in purview
Lead all contract negotiations & change order identification and negotiations
Perform weekly safety audits
Coding / tracking receipts for daily job expenses
Qualifications
Education / Experience
High school diploma required
4 year degree or 5 years total experience in management of construction projects
2 years in marine construction preferred
2 years estimating small heavy civil construction projects preferred
Knowledge / Skills
Experience with estimating software
Experience with HCSS
Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills
Capacity to participate in all phases of the estimating and bidding process
Working knowledge of standard construction practices and law
Experience in computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting preferred
Construction estimating / bidding
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with members of the office and operational staff
Strong computer skills
Physical / Mental Requirements
Perform work in office and field settings
Be available after hours and on weekends as needed
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background screen
Valid driver's license, valid auto insurance, clean driving record
Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow) : stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive hand use
