Moravian Academy seeks a dynamic and innovative part-time Spanish teacher (20 hours per week) at the upper school on the Merle-Smith Campus. The Global Languages department aims to foster proficiency in the target language that goes beyond the classroom and that provides students the tools and knowledge to understand and communicate in the target language and function in target cultures.
Essential Functions :
- Teach two sections of Spanish III within the global language department.
- Support and further enhance the department's high expectations for academic performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course.
- Facilitate hands-on exploration and student collaboration, integrating student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum.
- Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
- Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading periods.
- Assume duties including, but not limited to, serving as an advisor or co-advisor to a small group of students or club.
- Participate in professional collaboration and development, including committee work, department meetings, and divisional faculty meetings.
