POSITION SUMMARY : Applications are invited for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice position in the Moravian University Art Department, to begin in Fall 2025. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in an appropriate field (photography, digital media, new media or studio art). The position carries a 4 / 4 teaching load. The Department has a strong interest in candidates who can teach a wide range of photography courses in one or more of the following fields : black and white darkroom photography, digital photography, alternative photographic processes, history of photography, digital photography, digital video, or animation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach and oversee photography and digital media courses
  • Teach in the university's general education program as necessary and appropriate
  • Manage a wet darkroom facility and digital media lab.
  • Contribute to the institution's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
  • Actively and effectively participate in service to the University through academic advising, committee membership, department and faculty meetings, and / or mentorship of student clubs and organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty within the department on department specific commitments and responsibilities, as well as with faculty and staff on University-wide projects and initiatives
  • Communicate with the Manager of Music and Art and the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure the safe and proper disposal of photo chemicals and equipment maintenance.
  • Update and assess the photography and digital media curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS : The Photography and Digital Media Professor of Practice should hold a MFA or other terminal degree in photography, digital media, new media or studio art; a minimum of 2 years teaching experience required. Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite required. Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience managing a wet darkroom facility and digital media lab with photography equipment as well as experience with studio and location lighting, fine art printing and Epson photo printers required. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of using and teaching photographic and lens-based media, applying a comprehensive approach to fostering artistic practice that spans both traditional and emerging techniques. An exceptional record of photography or digital media exhibitions, significant professional / commercial photography, video or digital media experience and membership in professional organizations related to photography are preferred.
