Full-Time (Exempt Administrative/Professional/Technical Appointment, 260 days), 1.0 FTE.

*This is a grant-funded position through the Title V, MI CASA program.

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

The MI CASA (MCC Innovating Careers, Access, and Student Achievement) project is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) Title V grant (Award #: P031S230272). MI CASA ("my house" in Spanish) was developed to help encourage Hispanic and low-income students to feel a sense of welcome and belonging at MCC. The position will oversee the development of the Mi CASA Career Center and its services, including workshops, partnerships with area businesses, the purchase of supplies and software, and transfer activities. The successful candidate for this role will have experience working with college students and businesses, and a knowledge of career information and materials. The Career Services Director shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities of inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with counseling or advising others.
  • Ability to work effectively and positively with a diverse student population, promoting a positive and high energy student experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to exercise judgment and critical thinking toward all communications within the position.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to develop working networks with diverse constituencies.
  • Technical and computer skills including Microsoft Office and to support assessment and continuous improvement of retention initiatives such as experience with EAB Navigate, or other student case management software.
  • Occasional travel (day, evening, overnight and weekends) throughout the college service area and the state to carry out duties of the position.
  • Occasional long and irregular hours and the ability to participate in evening and weekend commitments as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Career Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience supervising others.
  • Knowledge and experience with administering career assessments.
  • Experience in overseeing and managing budgets.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience and expertise with the purchase of supplies and software, transfer activities, and partnership creation.
  • Experience working in an inclusive learning and working environment and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, employers, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Anticipated Start Date: January 2025


Salary and Benefits:

$57,600 - $66,240 based on education, skills and experience. Candidates with a Master's degree may receive an additional $3,300 base increase. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, LTD & benefit package including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is one of 13 colleges comprising the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college has consistently been named a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the past decade.

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. MCC provides high quality lower division transferable courses and occupational education culminating in a variety of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs through traditional, innovative, and non-traditional delivery methods to an 11,500 square mile service area in eastern Colorado.

The College serves this vast, rural, agricultural area from its main campus in Fort Morgan and through four regional locations in Bennett, Limon, Burlington and Wray. These locations are 75 to 150 miles from the campus in Fort Morgan.
