What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Morgan Corp.?

We are currently searching for an Operations Manager to work with our Charlotte Division. The primary responsibility of the Operations Manager is the development, training, and coordination of Morgan Corp.'s field leadership team. The OM coordinates the resources required to ensure all divisional projects meet and maintain performance and safety standards including but not limited to field supervision, craft personnel, and equipment for the division.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple Foremen, Superintendents, Sr. Superintendents, and Construction Managers within the division.
  • Schedules labor and equipment between divisional projects
  • Provides technical assistance and direction to field management and crews, resolving issues as required
  • Sets productivity goals, measures performance, and ensures submission of required reports as required by contract and company procedures
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with site safety policies and procedures
  • Initiates and participates in field management and craft personnel actions including hiring, discipline, evaluation and promotion of employees, and terminations
  • Ensures appropriate training for field management and craft personnel
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Support safety program policies, procedures, implementation, and compliance verification
  • Attend periodic project meetings as necessary to support project teams
  • Support estimating team in new site investigation and pre-bid activities as needed
  • Support project teams by coordinating and providing PTO and emergency coverage

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of prior Senior Superintendent and/or Construction Manager experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work, for extended periods at job sites located predominately in the Southeastern United States
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of site work and underground utilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to convey information by telephone, email, and in-person; and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations, which may include customers, vendors, and/or other employees
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze plans and specifications
  • Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations. Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment
  • Ability to build a collaborative and effective team
  • Able to formulate sound decisions using available information
  • Ability to resolve problems involving several variables with limited supervision
  • Proficient in the use of computers and have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive
  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working weekends as needed

Work Environment:

Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. While performing the essential functions of this job the Superintendent will regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and manipulate object, reach with hands and arms, lift above head, bend to the waist, squat, talk and hear. Occasionally climb ladders, crawl in tight or confined spaces, and lift, move or push up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include near, far and color vision. Ascend or descend stairs as well as walk on uneven terrain. Work in construction areas posing greater risk due to moving equipment and potential trip and fall hazards. Regularly be exposed to varying temperatures (high and low) and loud noises.
