What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal - Family Law position at Morgan Hill, PC?
We're growing! Morgan Hill is a well-established law firm originally based out of Olympia seeking to add an experienced family law paralegal to our dynamic team of professionals. This position will work closely with and support one supervising attorney whose main practice is in family law. This is not a remote position and will require presence in the office, however, occasional work from home opportunities are available.
We have recently opened a second location in Tacoma. Placement may be considered for either office location.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorney in all stages of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoption
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information
- Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, declarations, and affidavits
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and easily accessible
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions
- Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information for case preparation
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and drafting trial binders
Skills:
- Ability to work autonomously and is self-driven - Strong knowledge of legal case management procedures and practices
- Proficiency in legal administrative tasks, such as drafting correspondence and maintaining calendars
- Ability to proofread legal documents for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors
- Experience in legal drafting, including preparing pleadings and motions
- Strong research skills to gather relevant information for cases
- Effective project management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously
- Excellent interviewing skills to gather information from clients - High attention to detail and excellent communication skills - Excellent customer service skills to engage clients and maintain positive relationships
