Job Description
The Senior Property Accountant role is to simultaneously be a mentor/trainer to the Property Accountants while being a resource to the Financial Accounting Supervisors and Manager. They will review the work of the Property Accountants; answer any questions they have and act as a liaison to the Financial Accounting Supervisors. This role will facilitate the monthly/quarterly close process by assisting with the clearance of review comments from the Financial Accounting Supervisor and/or Manager on property binders as well assist with the gathering of special reporting requirements and audit requests. This role is in addition to performing the functions and qualities for their portfolio of properties.
Qualifications
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Training new hires in the monthly full cycle and quarter close process for our properties
• Assist Financial Accounting Supervisor with first review comments and questions on a property’s
binder from other Property Accountants on your team
• Assist Financial Accounting Supervisor and Accounting Manager with gathering special reporting
requirements or audit requests
• Maintain and/or collect monthly and quarterly reports as needed by the Financial Accounting
Supervisor
• Prepare schedules for Personal Property Tax returns.
• Responsible for posting daily deposits to cash sheets, preparing and posting journal entries,
including reclassifications & accruals. Enter fixed asset info into FAS software which calculates
depreciation. Record monthly depreciation entry.
• A review and close of each entity will be done monthly-submit a binder with the monthly financial
statements, general ledger and supporting schedules for each balance sheet account.
• Compare, research and explain monthly variances to the budget and prior year. As well as a
trend analysis on a 12-month statement.
• Research, explain & correct outstanding items on bank reconciliations.
• Understanding of intercompany accounts.

• Strong Excel skills. Monthly backup schedules are maintained in Excel.
• Has no problem meeting deadlines and can handle working under pressure at times.

others in the department.

• Ability to work and understand Yardi software (Apartments).
• Reports directly to the Financial Accounting Supervisor for the APTS.
• May require overtime during quarter end/year end close out process.
