This role requires a skill set in the woodworking trade, including but not limited to wooden floor repairs and maintenance. As a contractor of Morich Enterprises, you will be responsible for resurfacing and recoating wood at bowling centers. Most, if not all, contracts are completed between the months of May and September. We typically work 5-6 days a week during this period, with most jobs occurring during the night when the bowling facility is closed. Our operations cover most of the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, meaning that this job requires travel during the summer. All experience levels are welcome as we can provide on the job training that teaches the skills of the trade. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship while ensuring client satisfaction through effective communication and project management.


Responsibilities:


  • Restoring floors according to client specifications and industry standards. This includes things like replacing and repairing damaged wood as needed.
  • Resurfacing responsibilities: These include tasks such as running a floor buffer to smooth out and clean wooden surface, using a drum sander and/or an edger to remove layers of old finish if job requires a sanding, cleaning excess dust and particulates after machinery work is completed, and pulling a new coat of finish over the wood once machinery and clean-up is finished.
  • Not all resurfacing responsibilities are required to be conducted by contractor, but learning some of these duties will result in a better comprehension of carrying a job out to completion. Additionally, pay is commensurate with experience, so the more information that one is willing to learn, the more opportunity there is for a growth in income (starting pay $25/hr with a growth potential of up to $40/hr)
  • Personal Responsibilities: The person who fills this role is expected to be trustworthy and respectful to all facilities and staff members in which they encounter. Additionally, a self-employed contractor's tax status is 1099. This means that the individual is responsible for setting aside a portion of earned compensation for taxation purposes. It is recommended that the individual set aside 15-20% of earnings for this purpose. Finally, it is required that the individual is insured through a General Liability policy.


Qualifications/Skills:


  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively
  • Experience using tools associated with the carpentry trade: drills, belt sander, hand sander, edger, router, rotary, hand saw, drum sander, etc.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are critical for quality workmanship and success in this role.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients in order to understand their needs.
  • Minimum Education Level: High School Diploma/GED
