Mortel Law, PLLC is a small, fast paced estate planning and probate law firm in Oakdale. We aim to provide top-tier legal representation to our clients. We are seeking a paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem solving skills, strong attention to detail, a great attitude, and a willingness to help wherever it is needed.
Basic responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents including probate pleadings, and manage probate administration files;
- Prepare estate planning documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives and Deeds;
- E-file documents with courts and e-record deeds;
- Draft and manage correspondence;
- Communicate with potential and existing clients on the phone, in person and by email;
- Schedule appointments and manage attorney’s calendar;
- Prepare and assemble documents for signing and witness signings;
- Maintain client database and manage client files;
- Provide all aspects of legal and administrative support;
- Perform basic administrative tasks as needed, such as scanning, mailing, and filing.
Skills required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar;
- Ability to interact with all clients in a warm, kind and respectful manner;
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to prioritize and execute numerous tasks under tight deadlines;
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, copier, printer, multi-line telephone;
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other standard office software, with experience in Clio preferred;
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision, including analysis and problem solving as needed;
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain strict client confidentiality;
- Prior law firm experience in the areas of probate and/or estate planning required.
