What are the responsibilities and job description for the Moulin Rouge Tour - Wardrobe Supervisor position at Moulin Rouge?
The Supervisors are directly responsible for managing the care and maintenance of the Production’s costume inventory, as well as managing the Dressing Crew who assist the actors throughout the performances and the
Daywork Crew who perform daily maintenance on the costumes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Wardrobe Department and directly oversee the activities of the Dressing Crew and Daywork Crew
- Train and manage local crew in each venue
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Dressing Cue Tracking Notes
- Maintain laundry and dry-cleaning schedules with attention paid to Actor’s Equity Association’s rules regarding frequency of costume cleaning
- Work with Directors, Stage Management and Designers to ensure the performance operates efficiently
- Oversee the laundry, dry cleaning, maintenance and storage of the costumes
- Provide recommendations for cost reductions
- Provide Company and Production Management with scheduling, staffing and budgets for Special Events
- Work with Company Management to ensure the department remains on budget, as per allocated Labor costs, supplies, materials, dry cleaning, etc.
- Submit Weekly Payroll to Company Management (including tracking employees Sick Days)
- Submit Weekly Petty Cash receipts to Company Management
- Maintain, track and maximize the material inventory
- Oversee Wardrobe and Costume logistics including local, domestic and international shipping
- Perform emergency repairs and cleaning as needed
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times by conforming to all established Safety Policies and Procedures; participate in all required safety classes
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work collaboratively with the Wardrobe Team and all Departments working on the show
- Maintain a flexible schedule for Special Events, Publicity and Put-In Dress Rehearsals
Qualification and Required Skills
- Familiar with Backstage Work Environments and terminology
- Solid fundamental knowledge of costume construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning
- Self-motivated, team oriented and highly collaborative work style
- Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and problem solve in a high-pressure environment and work efficiently within given time constraints
- Able to sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach and bend
- Able to climb stairs multiple times throughout a work shift
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion
- Carry up to 20lbs
- Fluency in English
- Computer proficient
- Must be flexible in work schedule including but not limited to: early morning hours, evenings, weekends and Holidays and willing to be traveling full time.
