As a full-time Health Center Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting providers with patient care, managing clinic operations, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for our patients.
In this dual role, you will support healthcare providers by delivering both direct and indirect patient care, addressing urgent, emergent, preventive, and potential health issues. Your specialized skills in women's health care will be essential in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to our patients. You will be proficient in women's health procedures, including gynecological exams, prenatal and postnatal care, and reproductive health services. Additionally, you will educate patients on women's health issues, such as family planning, contraception, and menopause, while offering empathetic and sensitive care to women of all ages, especially during vulnerable times.
In the orthopedic office, you will provide specialized knowledge related to musculoskeletal conditions, treatments, and procedures, including the application and removal of casts, preparation for orthopedic surgeries, and assistance with joint injections. Your clinical skills will include performing routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with minor procedures. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members is crucial, as is understanding and respecting diverse cultural backgrounds and their impact on health care. Emotional maturity and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy are essential. You will manage patient records, schedule appointments, and ensure smooth clinic operations, all while adapting to a fast-paced environment with varying patient needs and clinic dynamics. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and other medical software will also be important.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care under the supervision of a Physician, respecting social, cultural, and spiritual beliefs.
- Prepare patient charts for office visits or exams, including vitals, measurements, and history. Obtain specimens and participate in patient education.
- Maintain qualifications and in-services appropriate for the level of service/certification, including BLS certification.
- Maintain equipment according to guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Follow guidelines for medication refills and administer IM/SC injections properly.
- Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and respect within the office and interdepartmentally.
- Maintain a system for diagnostic test tracking and follow-up as appropriate.
- Manage all messages in the message center, including messages, reminders, documents, and results.
Education, Training, or Certifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a CCMA, RMA, or CMA program with national certification (CCMA, RMA, or CMA)
- BLS certification
Experience:
- Customer service experience
- Medical office experience preferred
