What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Specialty Department Le position at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital?
Specialty Leads- All departments
- Collaborate with the Specialty Nursing Supervisor and training mentors to develop and implement department-specific protocols and procedures to optimize workflow and staff performance.
- Organize and participate in departmental meetings, proactively contributing agenda topics and fostering effective communication within the team.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and uphold Core Values by leading by example and promoting a positive work environment.
- Provide training on specialty-specific protocols and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) with guidance from training mentors and designated supervisors.
- Assist in scheduling departmental staff in coordination with the Specialty Nursing Supervisor to ensure adequate coverage.
- Take initiative in addressing department-specific challenges and provide timely solutions.
- Foster communication and collaboration between departments to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency.
- Oversee and coordinate workflow on the specialty floor to optimize resource utilization.
- Monitor department capacity and communicate with other department leads to ensure efficient patient management.
- Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of department facilities and equipment.
- Report findings and provide improvement suggestions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Mentor departmental staff to foster an environment of teamwork, cooperation, and continuous learning.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of qualified department staff, including participation in working interviews.
- Address staffing challenges proactively and ensure appropriate support is provided.
- Lead by example and enforce hospital policies while fostering a culture of respect and professionalism.
- Participate in the onboarding, training, and engagement of new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the team.
- Conduct quarterly employee-specific meetings to discuss performance, goals, and development opportunities.
- CVT preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Veterinary Technician in a specialty setting.
- Previous leadership experience is a plus.
- This position requires frequent standing, bending, and physical activity.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs regularly and restrain animals as needed.
