MSC Cruises, the world's third largest and fastest growing cruise line is hiring a General Manager for our private island marine reserve in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay. Alternating with another General Manager on the island, you will work 3 months on the island, 3 months off on a rotating basis throughout the year. With the support of your leadership team and the corporate team in Miami, FL you will oversee and guide all daily operations of Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, taking ultimate responsibility for the smooth execution of the Guests' island experience.
Documented successful previous experience in a cruise line private destination is an advantage in addition to work experience within the cruise industry or shoreside resort destination.
Proven ability to manage large department of employees (150 staff)
Good knowledge of Public Health and codes in force governing Bahamian, USPH and MSC Cruises standards
Demonstrated skills in F&B, Housekeeping and Finance management procedures and system
Above average skills in tactful, diplomatic crisis and problem handling.
A sound, working knowledge of similar competitive products in the Cruise industry or land-based hospitality structure.
Proven ability to create and work in a harmonious productive team environment
Proven ability to work within a harmonious and diverse culture team environment
Passionate for the job conducted
Able to work 7 days a week and willing to live on a private destination away from family & friends for a minimum of 3 months uninterrupted in warm climate.
Proactive, Team Player. Fluent English verbal and written skills. Knowledge of other core language is an advantage.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs\/22.6kgs.
Ability to obtain company sponsored legal right to work and live in the Bahamas.
Current Bahamian Police Character Certificate or equivalent from country of residence.
Functional Leader and the ultimate person responsible for the Hotel Operations portion of island operations
Responsible for all guest experience, product and service execution and service recovery
Responsible for the development, coaching and creation of a positive working environment for all island employees and creating an empowering work environment
Responsible for island revenue maximization and personnel & hotel operations budget cost control.
Responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff residing on Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve
Taking on the role of official “ship agent” for Ocean Cay. Collaborating with local authorities, ship immigration \/ crew purser and authorities in Bimini.
An ambassador for the MSC Brand Values, Ethics and Product, continuously championing guest centric engagement with all departments and island staff members.
Works closely with indirect reports and their corporate leaders in Technical, IT, Medical, Environmental, Security, Safety, Port Development and Landscaping aspects
Works closely in a collaborative and positive manner with the visiting MSC Cruises vessels management teams and shipboard staff to ensure a successful overall execution of guest experience on Ocean Cay
Works closely with all local Bahamian governmental authorities and entities and local operators in a productive and conducive manner for MSC Cruises and ensures all Bahamian Rules & Regulations are followed
Ensures rules and regulations related to Marine Reserve designation of Ocean Cay are followed by all island staff
